Flatbed and open-deck freight — including step deck and RGN

Quote this flatbed lane

Include dimensions, weight, and whether it needs a tarp, step deck, or RGN. Dispatch will not guess the trailer from “flatbed-ish.”

Open deck

When to book PRIDEUSA flatbed

Open-deck truckload from an asset-based carrier — not a load-board mystery truck with a strap count you find out at the dock.

Use this service for freight that needs chains, straps, tarps, or a lower deck: structural steel, lumber, building materials, machinery, and other pieces that will not load through van doors.

PRIDEUSA (MC# 875229) runs its own trucks from Lake Bluff, IL. Insurance on the books: $1M liability, $100K cargo. Motive ELD. After pickup we can pass a tracking link with no extra portal — Track Shipment.

Permits and oversize are not a default “yes” on every lane. Put length, width, height, and weight on the request. If it is legal flatbed, we rate it that way. If it needs a different trailer or a permit conversation, you hear that early.

What to send with the quote:

  • Dimensions and weight — not just “flatbed, 42k.”
  • Tarp or naked — weather and commodity decide; say it.
  • Load / unload method — crane, forklift, drive-on, drop.

Equipment

Step deck and RGN — same desk, different trailer

We did not split step deck and RGN into empty clone pages. If the freight is taller or has to drive on, this is the conversation.

Step deck is for taller cargo that still wants a legal-height story without jumping straight to a permit circus. Say the height and weight on the quote. If a standard flatbed will not clear, we will tell you before anyone tarps the wrong trailer.

RGN (removable gooseneck) is for machinery and pieces that need to drive or winch onto a low deck. Accessibility is the point — not a brochure photo of a trailer you will never get.

Weather-sensitive freight that still needs side access is often a conestoga conversation — mention tarp, curtains, or conestoga in the commodity field so dispatch matches equipment instead of hoping.

CDL-A flatbed hiring (pay, tarp bonus, Volvo seats) is Flatbed jobs. Do not send a driver application to this quote form.

Flatbed 48′ / 53′

Standard open deck for steel, lumber, and freight that straps and tarps the usual way.

Step deck

Lower well for taller pieces. Height on the quote is not optional.

RGN

Removable gooseneck for machinery and loads that need to roll or winch on.

FAQ

Flatbed & open-deck FAQ

Equipment, tarps, and permits — answered before you tender.

Do you only run standard flatbed?

No. This page covers flatbed plus step deck and RGN. Put height, weight, and how it loads on the quote so we assign the right trailer instead of a generic open-deck rate.

Can you tarp the load?

Call tarp vs no-tarp (or conestoga) on the request. Weather-sensitive freight should not be a surprise at the shipper.

Do you haul oversize / permitted freight?

Possible when the dimensions are real and the lane works. We will not rubber-stamp a permit load from a one-line email. Include L×W×H and weight.

How fast is a flatbed rate?

About 30 minutes on lanes we can cover. Form on this page or +1 (847) 702-8181.

Is drop trailer available on open deck?

Sometimes — yard and trailer type matter. Ask on the quote, or book a window on appointments.
