HERO ELD got pulled with a June 2, 2026 deadline. One name, same OOS math
FMCSA revoked HERO ELD on April 2, 2026 for failing Appendix A; after the June 2 deadline that identifier was legally nothing and a 395.8(a)(1) sit.

What the notice actually said
A tablet still labeled HERO is not a safety rating. April 2, 2026, FMCSA revoked HERO ELD for failing Appendix A. Hero is a product name.
Carriers had 60 days. After June 2, 2026, that identifier was legally nothing — 395.8(a)(1) and a CVSA sit. A single-name bulletin is easier to scroll past than a fourteen-device list. The math is the same.
Administrator Barrs put a running total in the release: more than 56 devices already off the list since January 2025. That sentence is hygiene context, not a reason to keep this box “until they appeal.”
One name, same out-of-service math. Relist only if FMCSA puts HERO back on the registered list.
If that identifier was in a truck we dispatch, it had to be gone before June 2. A sticker swap that leaves the same revoked software is still a revoked ELD.
What it changes on Monday
We will not put a bargain ELD in a 2026 Volvo. Dispatch confirms the logger before the truck is assigned, including lease and owner-operator boxes.
If a driver shows up with HERO still in the windshield, that truck does not take a live-load. Swap first, then the appointment.
Why registration tightened: the vetting overhaul. Year pile: 79 devices. Owner-operators: OO onboarding.

What we will — and will not — do
We run Motive. We will not dispatch HERO after the grace date, and we will not honor a Facebook ad that says it is “FMCSA approved.”
We will not treat a single-device bulletin as a smaller problem than a fourteen-name list. Same Appendix A, same 60 days, same sit.
Call +1 (847) 702-8181 if you need to know whether a box in your truck is on the list. Bring the identifier.
Short glossary
The jargon, in the order it showed up — no extra theory.
- Revoked ELD
- Removed from the registered list. After the grace date it is treated as no ELD.

FAQ
Is HERO back?
Only if it is on the current registered list. A 2026 revocation does not expire because a vendor sent a text.
June 2 passed?
Yes. History is the warning label. After that date the identifier was no ELD.
Software ELD?
Only if that product is registered now. A phone app with a new sticker is still an identifier problem.
PRIDEUSA?
Motive. Dispatch confirms the logger; we do not shop clones.
