What the notice actually said

Shippers sometimes confuse “FMCSA registered” with “this truck will move my apartment.” Those are different statutes and different consumer-protection files. Operation Protect Your Move is a household-goods sting. It is real. It is not a dry-van story, and it is not Highway Shield. We include it so a sofa does not arrive on our quote form by accident.

FMCSA sent investigators after interstate movers and the brokers who feed them — shops with high complaint counts, hostage goods, surprise fees, unregistered operations. ProtectYourMove.gov is the consumer toolkit: a checklist, a way to check registration, and complaint counts. The filing database is still the National Consumer Complaint Database.

The 2023 runs found more than 1,000 violations and fed the Department of Justice in at least one California civil case. That is the enforcement payload in the launch notice. It does not make a Pride USA Volvo a moving van, and it does not change a Joliet live-load.

Household goods is a distinct FMCSA consumer-protection program. Property brokers and HHG brokers now have related but different complaint flavors in NCCDB. If you are trying to move a three-bedroom, you are in the Protect Your Move world. If you have pallets in a 53-foot box, you are in ours.

What it changes on Monday
