What the notice actually said

The shop already knows this playbook if it lived through a prior purge: pull the identifier, check the registered list, swap the box, do not argue with a vendor roadmap. This page is the spring 2026 fourteen-device list, not the August five-device list and not the earlier nine. Same legal engine. Different identifiers. Different calendar.

FMCSA removed fourteen devices for failing Appendix A to Part 395 Subpart B. Carriers had 60 days. After May 4, 2026, the revoked unit was treated as no ELD — 395.8(a)(1) and out of service under CVSA. During the grace window, inspectors were told to take paper or software logs rather than write the no-RODS / not-registered citations.

DENDRA and Egreen are among the names in that bulletin. Other identifiers lived on the same list. We will not pretend a Facebook ad is a substitute for eld.fmcsa.dot.gov/List. Providers can get relisted if they fix deficiencies. FMCSA still tells carriers not to gamble the USDOT number on that hope.

If your shop already swapped by May 4, this page is the record of that purge — useful when someone buys a clone in a parking lot and swears it is “the same as Motive.” If you did not swap by May 4, you already learned the expensive version. The later five-device bulletin used the same script with an October-family date. Keep the lists labeled.

What it changes on Monday

We standardized on Motive. A partner or owner-operator box still has to match the live registered list, not a brochure from Q1. Dispatch confirms the logging device before a truck is dispatched. A $199 no-name unit in a late-model Volvo is not a cost savings after an OOS.

Monday’s lease-on conversation includes the identifier. If the box is on a revoked list — this fourteen, the nine, or the later five — the truck does not take a Pride USA load until the device on the dash is registered. See the August five and the nine-device list so you do not mix calendars.

Paper logs were a bridge during the grace window. They are not a lifestyle. The mandate is a registered ELD. We will not run a 2026 truck on a legal theory that May 4 was “just a suggestion.”

What we will — and will not — do

We will run Motive and we will still check a partner’s identifier against the live list. We will not put a revoked box in a truck because the vendor promised a firmware update next week. Hope is not a 395 device.

We will not cite this May 4 purge as if it were the October five or the April nine. Three lists, three drop-dead dates, one rule: after the grace day, the revoked unit is nothing.
